Containerboard/OCC Projects

A Containerboard Mill – A Bench$martSM Cost and Quality Benchmarking.
This project consisted of benchmarking costs, inventory, freight, and quality of OCC, DLK, and Mixed Paper for this mill.

A North American Containerboard Producer – OCC Cost and Procurement Fundamentals Benchmarking.
In this project, Moore & Associates developed regional OCC cost benchmarking and the primary parameters that affect the procurement of this grade.

A Containerboard Producer – OCC Mill Market Research.
This project covered an overview analysis of the use of OCC by all types of mills in the Southwest and Western US.

A Containerboard Producer – Export Vs. Domestic Pricing. 
In this project, Moore & Associates examined OCC export versus domestic prices as part of an analysis of a potential new containerboard machine.

A Containerboard Producer – A Fore$ightSM Pricing Analysis.
This project, which was an outgrowth of Moore & Associates’ OCC price surveying, performed a more detailed analysis of containerboard sector pricing versus other OCC users.

A Containerboard Mill – A $martBuySM OCC Procurement Analysis. 
In this project, Moore & Associates examined, benchmarked and critiqued an existing large mill’s procurement practices for OCC.  The project included both types of buying practices, pricing and organization analysis.

A Containerboard Producer – $martBuySM Analysis of Recovered Paper Procurement Practices. 
Moore & Associates performed an analysis of this mill’s procurement of OCC.  The project focused on competitive geographic, contractual and procurement organization analyses.  The project objectives were to benchmark the company’s current procurement and recommend future strategic direction.

A Recycle Containerboard Mill – $martBuySM – An Analysis of Recovered Paper Procurement Practices. 
Moore & Associates provided this client with an in-depth analysis of its recovered paper purchasing practices and strategy.  The project included coverage of supply sources, supply agreements, and infrastructure practices for OCC benchmarked against industry practices and optimum targets.

A Containerboard Mill Project – Impact of Residential Mixed Paper on OCC Prices.
This project produced an analysis of residential mixed paper versus OCC as a fiber source for a new containerboard project.  The outcome was used to assist in obtaining financing for the project.

An International Containerboard Producer – A Worldwide OCC Balance. 
This project examined the impact of increased demand for OCC, and exports of this grade from North America.

Integrated Containerboard Manufacturer – Strategic Analysis. 
In this project, Moore & Associates performed a comparison of a group of companies’ procurement organization structures and a long-range historical price analysis of the clients’ OCC purchasing versus the industry.

Moore & Associates performed an analysis of this mill’s procurement of OCC. The project focused on competitive geographic, contractual and procurement organization analyses. The project objectives were to benchmark the company’s current procurement and recommend future strategic direction.

Multiple Clients – OCC/Mixed Paper Suite.
In this annual project, Moore & Associates released updates on four OCC/mixed paper market reports; a five-year forecast (1999-2003), updated regional price histories, actual mill price benchmarking, and an analysis of inventory practices. This series of reports enables a mill to examine historical trends in OCC/mixed paper pricing, as well as benchmark their performance, and project costs into the future.

State Market Development Agency and Paperboard Producers – Residential Mixed Paper Market Development.
In this project, Moore & Associates acted as the lead entity in bringing together a group of approximately 10 mills in the upper Midwest US to develop data on the generation, market trends and usability of residential mixed paper from the state of Minnesota. Detailed information was developed about the composition and generation of RMP as well as long-term price forecasts for both OCC and RMP in order for mills to make decisions on use of this difficult grade.

Multiple Clients – 5-Year OCC Price Forecast.
Moore & Associates, using its extensive recovered paper supply, demand, and price database, developed a 5-year forecast for U.S. OCC prices (1998-2002). Input variables for the project include recovered paper supply/demand, disposal/collection costs, and economic outlook/industry operating rates. Other more subtle and complex future trends are used to refine the model output.

An OCC Supplier – A Regional OCC Price Analysis.
Moore & Associates conducted a confidential OCC price data sharing project in a single U.S. recovered paper supply basin. FOB pricing, transportation costs, inventory levels, and historical pricing were included as part of the project analysis.

In this market research effort, Moore & Associates examined solid waste and recycling collection and processing activities in a major metropolitan marketplace.  The analysis was performed to assist the client in entering the recycling business in the marketplace.

A Containerboard Producer – Mixed Paper Supply from a Large Metropolitan Area.
For this client, Moore & Associates developed detailed information about the supply and demand of mixed paper in a major US metropolitan marketplace.  The second part of the project compared mixed paper price and supply availability for various collection programs through the US.

A Recycle Containerboard Producer – An Analysis of Residential Recycling Programs.
Research was performed for a series of metropolitan marketplaces on the current status of curbside recycling collection, processing contracts, and the potential for new supply of residential mixed paper.

Upper Midwest Recycle Containerboard Mill – An Analysis of Waste Paper Purchasing Practices.
This project included an analysis of all recovered paper practices at a 100% recycle containerboard mill.  Also included as part of this work were future supply and demand trends for old corrugated containers, mixed waste paper, and residential mixed waste paper.

Recycle Containerboard and Tissue Manufacturer – A Competitive Strategy Analysis of a Recovered Paper Processor/User.
This project examined a competitive intermediate processor of recovered paper in two major fiber basins in the U.S., the upper Midwest and the Mid-Atlantic states.  The project covered OCC, mixed paper, and high grades.

Recycle Containerboard Producer – Feasibility of Siting a 100% Recycle Linerboard Mill in a Chicago Area Recycling Industrial Park. 
This project considered all aspects of siting a new greenfield 100% recycled containerboard mill.
